Honda announced today that it would boost its production of 4-cyclider Accord models for the U.S. market in light of the growing demand for econorides. The automaker said it would also scale back its output of Odyssey minivans, Ridgeline pickup trucks and Pilot SUVs.
In addition, Honda will reduce its number of imported Accords by flexing its manufacturing muscle in U.S.-based factories of Anna and Marysville, Ohio. Meanwhile, the manufacturing of 6-cylider Accords will move to Honda's facility in Lincoln, Alabama. According to Edmunds Green Car Advisor, 76 percent of all U.S.-bound Honda and Acura vehicles already come from domestic plants -- the highest percentage for any international automaker.
