This test run of the ECO Pedal, or Nissan's latest attempt at boosting fuel economy, does little to phase my initial doubt about this rather bazaar add-on. The idea is simple: push the accelerator pedal too hard and it will push back to lower throttle and remind you of your heavy foot. To gauge its effect, Nissan even wired the system to a navi which rates your driving by displaying MPG figures in tandem. Convenient? Maybe. New? Hardly. Judging by the interior of what appears to be the Japanese Infinity M, it is evident that Nissan will initially push the ECO Pedal on its more hoggish premium brands ahead of making it standard across the entire lineup.
