Road & Track posted a rendered shot of the Tesla Model S, the all-new 4-door 5-passenger zero-emissions luxury sedan that will be powered by a lithium-ion battery pack. The dimensions of the car more or less jive with a teaser photo published in BusinessWeek a while back, but no one will know the final result until at least Geneva in March.
The Tesla Roadster is built on a modified version of the Lotus Elise platform, but the Model S will be an original Tesla design through and through. The Tesla will also cost less; the company claims the car should sticker in the neighborhood of $60,000, which is well below the $109,000 entry fee for the Tesla Roadster. Expect a 240 mile range and a 0-60 time under six seconds when the Model S hits the road in late 2010.
