The U.S. maker of battery-powered electric vehicles ZAP (Zero Air Pollution) could soon break ground on a million-square-foot electric vehicle factory in Franklin, Ky. These are early days and the Northern California EV distributor has yet to make it official. However, its contract manufacturing partner, allegedly in charge of the plant's construction, has let the cat out of the bag today, Edmunds Green Car Advisor reports.
Further proof comes in a form of a $48 million tax incentive passed by the state legislature last month. Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear also signed an executive order to allow "low-speed vehicles such as those promoted by Zap to be used on state roads with posted speed limits of 45 miles an hour or less." If built, the new factory will produce a number of existing ZAP electric cars and light duty pickups, as well as its recently introduced illustrious ZAP Alias three-wheeler.
