More than eighteen months after Sling Media first announced it, the SlingCatcher has shown up on Amazon for preorder. Its cousin, the Slingbox PRO HD, has also appeared, after being announced this past January. Both are also available direct from Sling Media itself.
The price for the Slingbox PRO HD and SlingCatcher are both $299.99, according to Amazon. No shipping dates have been provided.
If you've forgotten what either the Slingbox PRO HD or SlingCatcher is, we can't really blame you. In short, the Slingbox PRO HD includes the capability to stream high-definition video, captured from a TV, around the house or over the Internet, with up to three different devices. The PRO HD also includes a built-in ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuner.
The SlingCatcher takes that a step further, streaming video from the PC, including Web sites, to a TV or a mobile phone.
The folks over at Hava, meanwhile, would like to remind you that they've been doing something similar for months, if not years. The Monsoon Hava products are also available from Amazon, but a discount on the Hava Gold on the manufactuer's Web site brings that down to under $90, or cheaper than the Slingbox AV, which Sling itself lists as out of stock.
