RUF_Porsche_CT3.jpg

Ruf, the venerable Porsche aftermarket tuning firm responsible for cars like the Ruf CT3 (pictured), plans to use the Cayman as a base for the company's first electric supercar, Autoblog reports. Early indications are that the Ruf Cayman will have less horsepower but more torque than the Tesla Roadster. (Do I hear "comparison test?")

The report said that the Ruf Cayman will have lithium-ion batteries and achieve a top speed of 125 mph—which is low, but probably irrelevant if it's like the Tesla Roadster, a car with a similar low top speed but a 0-60 of under four seconds. The Ruf Cayman will also have a price tag that will likely exceed the Tesla Roadster's $108k base sticker. More info to come next month.
