Now that's a diesel hybrid concept: Renault is planning to debut the Ondelios crossover concept at next month's Paris auto show. It features a coefficient of drag of just 0.29 (a number I first saw 20 years ago as the coefficient of drag for the original Lexus LS400, although it's still an impressive feat today). But more impressive is the car's 2.0L 205 hp, 332 lb-ft diesel engine, four 20kW electric motors (one at each wheel), and futuristic dashboard inside the car.
Renault is claiming that this concept car is capable of 52 mpg, will snap off 7.8-second 0-62 mph runs, and will weigh just 3200 lbs, which is pretty light for a crossover vehicle of any kind. Those 23-inch wheels look like they'll cost a pretty penny when they bend after hitting a pothole, though. Precious little details are available about the car's interior, but I can't wait to find out what's going on there.
