Even though Hyundai needs more small cars to sell in the U.S.—particularly since they lack a competitor to the Honda Fit and the Toyota Yaris—a company executive said that they have no plans to bring in the highly anticipated i10 small car anytime soon, according to Automotive News.
"The i10 is too small for the American market," says Brandon Yea, senior vice president of product planning at Hyundai and Kia, in the report, saying instead that the company is looking at the larger i20 and i30 small cars. "But there is no decision yet." The article said that while the five-door i10 hatchback was originally designed for Europe, some think it could be a hit over here as buyers opt for more fuel-efficient cars.
