This drop-dead gorgeous concept could be a preview of what Mercedes-Benz's next E-class could look like. As Car and Driver reports, the above design study, which Mercedes unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, is a two-door shooting brake and not a genuine wagon. But its high-tech diesel engine and swoopy lines hint at more aggressive design language that picks up where the CLS500 sedan left off; Mercedes has already said the concept contains the underpinnings for the next E-class.
The ConceptFASCINATION is powered by a 2.2-liter, 204 hp diesel four-cylinder, which is equipped with both Mercedes's BlueTEC and AdBlue environmentally-friendly technology, the report said. The concept car also has numerous details that won't make it to production but are fascinating nonetheless: Compartments in the cargo area that cntain two pairs of binoculars and a high-end digital camera (they didn't specify which), along with a refrigerator and a humidor (!) inside the cabin. The headlights on the concept car, meanwhile, employ LED bulbs with fiber-optic running lights.
