Mazda announced that it plans to debut the Kiyora, a lightweight, next generation, urban compact concept car, at the 2008 Paris International Motor Show, which will be held from Thursday, October 2 through Sunday, October 19, 2008. The company said the car will feature their next generation (they apparently love that phrase) four-cylinder direct injection engine along with its Smart Idle Stop System, in an effort to improve fuel economy and reduce CO2 emissions.

The Kiyora will ride on an all-new, lightweight platform that's engineered to meet today's safety and performance requirements, Mazda said in a statement. The company released precious few other details, but stay tuned: we'll keep an eye on this one when it debuts in early October.
