If you're an F1 racing fan, Cutting Edge has a nice look at the technology that goes into making each race happen. For example, the Williams team takes 35 Lenovo Thinkpad laptops to each race for the engineers. Meanwhile, in the garage by the pit stop, there are eight racks of servers: two servers for each of the two cars overall, plus two servers for each of the two engines in the cars.

The report said that all of the computers are vital for processing the telemetry data that's piped in from more than 100 sensors on each car. "I can compare (driving) data with teammates, and immediately adapt my driving style to the portions of the track where they were faster around the corners," said Nico Rosberg, a Williams team driver, at a recent media briefing.

The team also has a supercomputer that processes track simulation data for the drivers; the track surface data is mapped to an accuracy of two millimeters, including a laser scan of every bump. Check out the report for more info.
