DirecTV and TiVo are extending their partnership to develop a high-definition DVR set-top box for DirecTV customers.
The two companies will work together to produce a version of the TiVo service for DirecTV's broadband-enabled HD DVR platform. The product is expected to be available in the second half of 2009.
DirecTV will continue to produce its existing line of set-top boxes. The TiVo HD box will be "an alternative choice to those DirecTV customers who would like to add TiVo," the companies said.
DirecTV and TiVo first launched a joint DVR in 2000, and extended their commercial and advertising relationship in 2006. Wednesday's announcement brings HD into the mix.
DirecTV will market and sell the TiVo-enabled service. Pricing and packaging will be announced closer to the launch date.

(Clipped from http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=151443 )
In April 2004, DirecTV launched the DirecTV HR10-250 DirecTV with TiVo with 250GB capacity offering ~30 hours of high definition, ~200 hours of standard definition recording, or any combination of the two. *Actual recording time will vary depending on the type of programming being recorded.

This is good news, but only about 2-3 years too late. Sorry DTV, but when you got in your pissing match with Tivo you lost a customer...
