Yesterday's anniversary unveiling of the production Chevy Volt has stolen the thunder from a number of other model debuts, including GM's own Chevy Orlando Concept. The company said that the compact crossover will make its first appearance at the Paris Auto Show next month.
Despite its modest 105-inch wheelbases, the Orlando offers 7-passenger seating capacity. That's because the car shares its Delta II platform with the Chevy Cruze - an already confirmed replacement for the outgoing Cobalt. This can only mean one thing. If built, the Orlando could serve as the prototype for the future Chevy HHR, which GM said will also be phased out over the next 2 years.
This of course is assuming that the model sees production, let alone makes it to our shores. As for now, the Orlando is a mere show car coupled to a rather European 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel. Autoblog also suggests that the concept has lots in common with Chevy Tacuma -- a European-bound minivan with a more traditional "MPV appearance."
