Volkswagen has announced that it has officially handed over 5,000 vehicles to the Beijing Organizing Committee of the 2008 Olympic Games. The vehicles will provide logistic support for the organizers, athletes, media and Olympic guests, the company said in a statement. Volkswagen technicians and service crews plan to offer 24-hour support for the "Green Fleet," which consists entirely of low-consumption, low-emission vehicles.

The fleet is made up of Magotan 2.0 TDI, Sagitar 1.4 TSI, Touran EcoFuel, Tiguan 2.0 TDI and Magotan BlueMotion models (sadly, none of which are available in the U.S.). The company said in a statement that Green Fleet is based at the Main Press Center to provide shuttle services.
