In this Auto Channel-featured video former Intel CEO Andy Grove highlights the transition point that is currently threatening not only the environment, but the overall strategic stability of America and the world at large. Averting disaster, he believes, will require the transportation industry to become 'oil resilient' by abandoning fossil products and embracing electricity. He calls for a comprehensive transformation of all motor vehicles, roughly 50 to 60 million in all, to a PHEV platform with a 40-mile daily range. With modified plug-in SUV models in the backdrop, he praises GM for its efforts in bringing the electric Chevy Volt to the market. Highly informed, Grove draws on much more than his 20-year run at Intel. For six years he taught a graduate course in semiconductor device physics at the University of California at Berkeley and is currently a lecturer at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
