Are Apple's Internet claims for the iPhone 3G false advertising? One advocacy group in the UK thinks so, a claim which has lead to a ban of one of the company's ads in the country.
"You never know which part of the internet you'll need ... which is why all the parts of the internet are on the iPhone," says the ad. People complained to the UK's Advertising Standards Authority, claiming that the company's refusal to support JAVA and Flash makes the statement false.
The ad had been giving the go-ahead by Clearcast thanks to a "demonstration and the advertiser's assurances." The ASA, however, has ordered that the ad, in its current form, be pulled.
