A Dutch company called GreenFuelSystems has designed an E85 bio-ethanol conversion kit that they're selling for just 549 euros, according to AutoblogGreen. This comes after reports of electric plug-in conversion kits (and factory-backed options) for the Prius as well.

The site doesn't list much in the way of details for the kit. The report said that the company is currently being hailed as the first group to bring an E85 conversion kit to market. If you ask me, shouldn't we be converting cars that aren't as environmentally friendly as the Prius is to begin with? I don't look at the Prius and think, "what that car needs is to be better for the environment." At any rate, 549 euros is a lot less than the $24,000 to $36,000 ZAP is charging for its plug-in conversion kit, although the two kits are about as comparable as apples and guitars.
