It's far from certain whether it will ever reach U.S. shores, but Edmunds recently tested the Toyota iQ and found that it's both spacious and a good drive. At least overseas, there will be plenty of engine choices, according to a Toyota spokesperson: the European-spec iQ will be available with either a one-liter, five-speed manual or a turbocharged 1.4L diesel with a six speed manual, the report said.
The iQ is a bit bigger than a Smart ForTwo, at 117 inches long, 66 inches wide, and 59 inches high. It's arguably a lot more useful, given that it can seat four (in an asymmetrical 3+1 arrangement) and has more flexible engine and transmission options; the diesel version will also likely beat out the ForTwo's fuel economy here in the U.S. Here's hoping Toyota decides to sell it here.
