Engadget spotted this telescope lens add-on for the iPhone 3G this morning. It attempts to turn the iPhone into a low quality DSLR--similar to what everyone is predicting will come out with the Micro 4/3rds system, except this only has Live View.
Unfortunately, you're not going to get amazing photos out of this thing. Since it is only $19, you're not going to get an Image Stabilized lens. What you will get though is an extension of the point-and-shoot capabilities of the iPhone 3G.
So then what's the point? If you don't feel like carrying an actual camera around, just take the lens and throw it in your other pocket. Just realize you're not going to get stellar photos out of this thing. Also bear in mind that this isn't the first time this has been attempted either.

SLR? That's a mighty stretch. I've got the exact same thing for my SE W810i a looooong time ago. It's the same scope, different bracket of course. It's still cool to keep around because it's a small spy-like scope and not a full set of binoculars. Just buy a real camera. Buy a real phone while you're at it too.
