It may look like it was in a front-end accident with all that duct tape, but these are actually more spy photos of the redesigned 2010 Toyota Prius hybrid, courtesy of AutoWeek. In this particular case, the new front end was grafted onto an existing 2nd generation Prius, so there's not a whole lot new here—except the solar panel in the roof.
We first heard about that last month, when Toyota announced that it was considering the use of optional roof-mounted solar panels in order to augment the car's air conditioning system. Reports are still coming in that the next-generation Prius will be slightly larger than the current model, and will feature a larger 1.8-liter gas engine half of Hybrid Synergy Drive, which will be good for about 40 hp more than the current model and even a slight improvement in fuel economy. (A prior report put the engine increase at just 0.1 liters, to 1.6).
