Sony Electronics announced four Xplod in-dash head units that connect directly to iPods, letting users charge and control them while on the road. The top-of-the-line CDX-GT630UI (pictured) is Sony's first car stereo that can connect directly to the iPhone, iPod, other digital music players and USB thumb drives via USB.
The CDX-GT630UI is also HD Radio ready (with the addition of an aftermarket tuner module) and comes with some proprietary Sony technologies for searching through your music collection. The other three units lack USB connectivity but still come with iPod support. Prices range from $80 to $160 for the four models, all of which will be available in September.
