In an effort to show how serious it is in the personal GPS space, Sony just announced four new units ranging from $250 to $400, PC Magazine reports. The four models add enough multimedia features to blur the distinction between GPS devices and portable media players; these aren't your garden variety turn-by-turn units with a basic MP3 player added.
The article said that the top-of-the-line NV-U94T ($400) can play MP3 and ACC music files, video files, and works as a stereo Bluetooth audio streaming and hands-free device. It sports a 4.8-inch, 16:9-aspect-ratio widescreen LCD that displays photos on Sony's annoying proprietary Memory Stick cards. Meanwhile, the NV-U84 ($350) drops the entertainment features but keeps the 4.8-inch screen. The NV-U74 ($300) steps to a 4.3-inch widescreen, and the low-end NV-U44 ($250) has a 3.5-inch screen with a regular 4:3 aspect ratio. All four devices will be available in September at Sony Style retail outlets and online.
