Frustrated shoppers still looking or a Wii console might be best served by signing up for Comcast's Preferred Plus or Premier Triple Play service; through August 17, customers which sign up for a two-year service plan may -- emphasis on may -- receive a Wii.
"[The] total number of Wii systems is limited," Comcast said.
It's worth noting that this report is a trifle stale; the program was announced with little fanfare in late July, although several gaming blogs picked up the story. I'm going to assume, however, that most gamers who wanted a Wii managed to score one several months ago.
For the rest of us who prefer a snug bed to a cold concrete mattress in front of Best Buy, however, consider this is an option. But with that two-year contract hanging over your head, I'd make sure they promise you a Wii before you commit.
Comcast Preferred Plus and Premier Triple Play packages include Comcast Digital Cable with on-demand and premium channels; Comcast Digital Voice, offering unlimited local and domestic long-distance calling and 12 calling features; and Comcast High-Speed Internet.
