TiVo has inked another partnership, this time with Entertainment Weekly. Starting in the fall, TiVo subscribers will be able to access the magazine's weekly "What to Watch" TV recommendations via their DVR boxes.
Users will be able to opt in to record the magazine's suggested shows, and the service will be included as part of the TiVo subscription price, according to a spokesman. TiVo subscribers will also be able to download EW video content and original programming from EW.com, such as "Just a Minute," "Ausiello TV," and "Idolatry", as well as behind-the-scenes clips from photo shoots.
The deal will allow readers to "connect directly" to EW content, Entertainment Weekly publisher Scott Donaton said in a statement. "Additionally, it offers a whole new viewing vehicle for our original video programming currently only available on EW.com."
"TiVo is all about providing easy solutions ... and Entertainment Weekly's development of this complete solution for its readers is just what TiVo stands for," said Tom Rogers, TiVo CEO and president.
Last month, TiVo announced Product Purchase, which lets users access Amazon.com on the TV screen using their remote controls and purchase items discussed on a certain television show.
