Edmunds has once again caught the Porsche Panamera in testing, this time in California's Death Valley—this car has to be the worst-kept secret in the auto industry by now. "Incorporating elements from both the 911 and the Cayenne, the Panamera looks like it's having a hard time pulling off the whole 'four-door coupe' idea." The article admits that when the disguise comes off, it could end up looking far prettier, but it sure doesn't seem like it now.
The report said that three engines will be available. The base car will include a 300 horsepower, 3.6 liter V-6, courtesy of Volkswagen. The S model, on the other hand, will include a Porsche-designed, 4.8 liter V-8 generating 405 hp. Finally, the Panamera Turbo will make a steam-catapult-like 520 hp, courtesy of—you guessed it—forced induction.
"Prices in Europe are expected to start at around $125,000 for the Panamera V6, ranging up to $195,000 for the Panamera Turbo," the article said. Expect slightly lower ticket prices stateside, when the cars go on sale near the end of '09.
