Diamonds really are a girl's best friend: At least, that seems to be the case for tennis star Maria Sharapova. She unveiled her limited-edition Canon Powershot Diamond Collection yesterday at New York City's South Street Seaport. Five consumers can win one through a nationwide sweepstakes. Each Canon PowerShot SD1100 is encrusted with 88 white diamonds (totaling 2.22 carats) around its lens.

More details and pictures, after the jump.

This was a red-carpet event, packed with photographers, reporters, and fans.

The night included other journalists getting to be Maria Sharapova--in Wii Top Spin 3, that is! And attendees were able to pose with Maria Sharapova lookalikes. Attendees also got to see Maria's new commercial, entitled "Fans," which will debut on the first day of the U.S. Open.

Maria expressed her passion for photography to the audience, saying that she is always the "dork" who takes pictures of everything.
