Ladies and gentleman, start your... fuel cells! A cross-country Hydrogen Road Tour 2008 will kick off on August 10 in Portland, Maine, covering 31 cities in 18 states and ultimately reaching Los Angeles, California on August 23.
From fuel cells to hydrogen internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and fueling stations, this journey is all about putting a spark in the rapidly emerging hydrogen tech. According to Hydro Kevin, the second day of the tour will mark the unveiling of the first hydrogen fueling station in the state of Massachusetts, courtesy of Nuvera Fuel Cells. The day after it's off to a party hosted by the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology. Then on "August 15 and 16, the caravan of hydrogen cars will stop at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte, where the vehicles will be refueled using mobile stations. The public can look under the hood of the vehicles and several guests will be invited to drive to the next stop in Greer, South Carolina."
Organized by the National Hydrogen Association, the California Fuel Cell Partnership, the U. S. Department of Transportation and the Department of Energy, the tour will feature hydrogen vehicles from BMW, Daimler, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen.
