TV stars and newscasters have complained that high definition makes them look worse rather than better, due to the vastly higher resolution available with the latest sets--all those little faults that were so easy to cover up before are glaringly obvious. Well, soon you can make your friends and family worry about those closeups, too: DXG USA has introduced the DXG-595V compact high-definition camcorder, which supports 1080p resolution and will be available for around $200 later this month.
The camera runs for up to 8 hours at high definition and can record directly to SDHC (SD high-capacity) memory cards. It can take still photos at up to 8 megapixels, and it even comes with video-editing software, so you can shoot, shape, and screen your home movies. The question is whether that 50-inch HDTV was really intended to show off last weekend's BBQ... but thanks to this affordable camcorder, why not?

I have one on the way, I'll post up a review after I use it.

Got mine today. Exactly what I'd expect for $180. Not broadcast quality, but much better than any standard def camera out there, including 8MP still shots.
Audio leaves some to be desired, but with no audio out jack, what do you expect?
ONLY disappointment - won't charge via USB. Requires taking teh battery out to charge, even though the charger is 4.2V/600ma.
Mike :)
