Klaus Draeger, the BMW board member running the company's green EfficientDynamics program, said in a recent AutoTelegraaf interview that despite the launch of the M1 Homage concept, BMW will not be producing a competitor to the Audi R8 supercar, according to AutoblogGreen. That runs counter to what a company board member said in a separate interview two months ago.
Back in June, BMW board member Herbert Diess told CAR magazine, "we have the know-how, we have the right engine, we even have the infrastructure to build such a car." As AutoblogGreen writes, the auto industry is being torn in two directions: on the one hand, there's a race to produce technologically advanced, eco-friendly vehicles, while on the other hand, there's a horsepower arms race.
