AT&T today announced a number of new iPhone plans aimed at users who travel internationally. They're not exactly the cheapest plans in the mobile phone industry, but let's face it: If you're the frugal type, you're probably not downloading a ton of data while you globetrot with your iPhone 3G in hand.

The new plans run $120 per month for 100MB and $200 for 200MB of international data (this is in addition to standard domestic data fees). The old plans were $25 and $60 for 20MB and 50MB, respectively.

You think that's pricey? Check out how much you'd be paying sans-plan. Says The New York Times:

AT&T's rationale for the fees is that it costs iPhone users traveling abroad an eye-popping $40 to download a three-minute video from YouTube (using two megabytes of data) without one of their plans.

That's a lot of Washingtons to stream a dog on a skateboard.
