Been holding out for that new version of the Amazon Kindle that, according to rumor, was coming out later this year? Now might be a good time to stop holding your breath.
According to Amazon's chief spokesman, Craig Berman, 2008 isn't going to see the Kindle 2.0 after all.
"Don't believe everything you read," Berman told The NY's Times' Bits Blog. "There's a lot of rumor and speculation about the Kindle. One thing I can tell you for sure is that there will be no new version of the Kindle this year. A new version is possible sometime next year at the earliest."
At to whether the new version will be custom-made for students, as previously suggested, Amazon has no official comment.

So disappointed to find I wasn't going to be able to try all the new features I read in this article.
