Supercharging has always been a relatively rare option; lately, it's been confined to Jaguars, the first generation Mini Cooper S, and not much else. But AutoWeek confirms that Audi plans to boost its A6 lineup early next year with the addition of a supercharged 3.0-liter V6.
The blown 3.0-liter, TFSI block combines the supercharger and direct-injection fuel delivery to generate 300 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque, the report said. "The Roots-type supercharger is packaged in the engine valley. A pair of water-to-air intercoolers is integrated into the supercharger housing, cooling the intake air after its passes through the supercharger."
The car will also get minor styling refreshes both inside and out, and the car's navigation system receives upgraded graphics and a new MMI controller. Look for the A6 line, including both sedan and wagon variants, this January in the U.S.
