This portable GPS unit isn't available here, but it's a good indication of the kind of thing we should be seeing soon in the U.S. Thinkware has announced the iNAVI ES100+, an upgrade to the company's existing 7-inch widescreen navigation unit it sells in Korea, Engadget reports. The new model keeps the same screen size, but it adds a host of other improvements—and it even features an automatic rear-view camera.
On the upgrade front, there's a new, faster 700MHz CPU. The ES100+ also includes the company's trademark 3D maps along with real-time traffic. There's even a DMB mobile TV receiver—which wouldn't work here even if we had the thing, since our own broadcast mobile TV networks have barely gotten off the ground. There's a picture-in-picture capability that lets you watch TV while continuing to see the maps—perfect for careening off the road while driving. The iNAVI ES100+ will be available later this month in 2GB ($400, roughly), 4GB ($450), and 8GB ($500) versions.
