The Lightning Car Company debuted its Electric Lightning sports car at the British International Motor Show today. T3 reports that the car runs on 30 on-board rechargeable batteries, makes over 700 hp, and should be good for a 0-60 time of 4 seconds. But what's most impressive is its proprietary fast-charge system.
According to the company, Electric Lightning drivers using a fast-charge outlet could recharge the car in under ten minutes—compared with eight hours for a Tesla Roadster—and yet still get a range of about 200 miles. The company claims that this is because the car uses lithium-titanate battery technology instead of Li-ion, according to the report.
That's all well and good, but no regular electric outlet can support that. So the company is looking into ways to build up infrastructure to support the car. Good luck with that. (Apparently, the car also charges via normal outlets, though the company suspiciously didn't give any figures for how long that would take.)
