Targus today announced its airport "checkpoint-friendly" laptop case, the Zip-Thru 15.4-inch Corporate Traveler Laptop Case. The first in the Targus line of checkpoint-friendly laptop cases, the Zip-Thru eliminates the need for removing your laptop from its case (and preventing your laptop from getting scratched) in order to speed your way through airport security.
Targus worked with the Transportation Security Administration to test the Zip-Thru case through an actual airport screening device, since you want to make sure that the X-ray machine will be able to screen your laptop clearly. Weighing 3.74 pounds and measuring 16.9 by 6.5 by 13.9 inches, the Zip-Thru accommodates laptops up to 15.4 inches, and also offers the company's SafePort Air Cushion System, which helps to prevent laptop damage if the bag is dropped or bumped.
The first Zip-Thru case will be available in black and made of durable ballistic 1680 denier nylon, and has a list price of $99.99. It will be available in October through resellers and at Targus.com. Skoomba, Briggs & Riley, Waterfield Designs, and Aerovation have also designed checkpoint-friendly laptop cases and sleeves.

I seriously doubt that TSA screeners will change their officially-sanctioned screening techniques just because Targus says it's OK.
These are the same guys who didn't believe a MacBook Air was a real computer...

FWIW, TSA came up with the specs and bag manufacturers made bags to meet them. This bag is checkpoint-friendly because TSA says it is, not because Target says it is.
