It seems like the point-and-shoot for professionals, enthusiasts, and people that just want better pictures may be released by Nikon soon, as rumors of the P6000 are being bandied about. After viewing photos of the information on the Nikon Rumors blog, I've translated it from French to English. Details, if it's not a myth, after the jump.
• 13.5 megapixels
• Nikkor 4X optical zoom (wide-angle lens, 28-112 mm)
• 2 lenses out of glass ED
• Optical Viewfinder
• 2.7-inch screen
• Maximum ISO of 6,400 (full format)
• Modes PSAM (Program, Shutter, Aperture, and Manual)
• Modulate GPS with geolocation in View NX or mypicturetown.com
• Scratch-resistant and manual pop-up flash
• LAN connection for transfer on mypicturetown.com
• RAW picture format under Windows (this may mean that the RAW images can be viewed under Microsoft's RAW Image Viewer)
• Development disengageable manually (huh? best I can do on translating that one!)
• Compatible Picture Control (no idea what that means)
• Optional Wide-angle Converter (22mm)
• ML-L3 remote control is compatible
13.5 megapixels can make billboard-size shots, useful for businesses if not many others. Canon may have some serious competition for the G9 if this is in fact not just a rumor.

With "Griffe accessoire", they mean "Flash Accessory Shoe" and actually not "scratch resistant" :D
