There are a number of plug-in car models on the horizon, and their arrival is closer than you think. As CNNMoney.com reports, several are on the verge of being released over the next two years. While none are available yet today, they're just around the corner—and they'll be available in both all-electric and hybrid variations to boot.
Perhaps the one with the most buzz is the Chevrolet Volt. Not only is it a unique design—it's actually an all-electric car, with a small gas engine that powers a generator after 40 miles of all-electric driving—but it could also help save GM, which announced some serious layoffs, the termination of its stock dividend, and some other big changes today.
Other plug-ins on the horizon include a version of the Saturn Vue, a Prius plug-in, a Ford Escape plug-in hybrid, and a Ford Edge with HySeries drive that mimics the Volt's design but with hydrogen. For the complete list, check out the full roundup.
