Sure we got our hands on the iPhone 3G this morning, but thanks to various software and activation issues with the firmware, iTunes, and AT&T, Sascha Segan has spent the better part of the day on the phone with the carrier, attempting to get the damned thing up and running.

Thankfully, we can finally report that all is well in iPhone 3G land (in our offices, at least), and you can expect a full, hands-on review of the device in the not too distant future.

The image above is of two activated iPhones. On the left is the first generation. Plugged in on the right is the brand new 3G model. After the jump, a video of the glorious event.

Congrats! For all of the reports of bricked iPhones and problems, I've also heard a number of reports of people who are pleased with their shiny new iPhones! It's actually made me think about getting one, and I'm not even an AT&T subscriber....but I do love me some Apple.

That being said, is it just me or is the 1st gen in the photo above a bit brighter looking than the 3G? Maybe one screen just went into power-save mode or something?
