Leaf-AFi-10-5forgearlog.jpg

First was Hasselblad with the50-megapixel beast. Shortly afterward came Phase One with 60.6 megapixels. Now Leaf has decided to enter the monster-megapixel market with the 56 MP AFi 10 DSLR, according to PhotographyBlog.

The new 56mm-by-36mm Leaf TWF sensor takes 56-megapixel shots using the entire 6-by-6 sensor area. What's interesting is that the sensor can be easily rotated: You simply flip the sensor from landscape to portrait and back, enabling 56mm resolution in both landscape and portrait orientations.

The camera's fastest shutter speed is 1 frame per second; exposure time is up to 32 seconds, according to Leaf. ISO ranges from 50 to 800, and file sizes range from 114MB to 171MB (RGB TIF 8-bit). The camera has wireless Bluetooth connectivity. SanDisk Extreme cards are recommended. And if any future firmware updates are needed, they can be uploaded via the DSLR's FireWire cable.

I couldn't get my hands on pricing yet, but expect it to be a massive chunk of your annual salary. I'll update the post when I find out more.
