PCMag.com reported on the Kodak Zi6 HD Pocket Cam last week: The new HD cam comes as a direct competitor to other pocket camcorders such as Flip Mino and the Creative Vado.
The Zi6 captures video at 720p, 60 fps with a 16:9 ratio. 60 fps means that you'll probably be using this camera outside or in well lit areas. It could also mean that the frame-to-sound sync when uploaded online may be a little off, as online video is 30 fps for the most part. Thankfully, the Kodak camcorder also captures video in HD at 30 fps, or VGA quality.
The Zi6 comes with Ni-MH rechargeable batteries, a battery charger, and Arcsoft Media Impression software for Kodak (which is PC-compatible only). Its videos are viewable on your HDTV with the included cables. The Z16 has a 2.4-inch display and an SD card slot for memory, up to 32GB in size. Available in black and pink, expect the $179.95 Zi6 to hit stores in September 2008.
If YouTube would just support HD videos the way that Vimeo does, this camcorder could be a blowout hit among consumers and enthusiasts alike. But for now, YouTube's High Quality video option won't even do justice to HD video at 720p. If you're a Vimeo user, it may be worth giving this camera a try, if you're not already using something like the Canon HV30.

This camera needs a direct input jack in order to professionalize the audio quality. Otherwise it will be
difficult to use this professionally when a write is on the run.
