Just in time for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, portable GPS manufacturer Garmin has announced the release of City Navigator China NT 2008. Gearlog reports that the new application combines millions of points of interest onto a microSD/SD card, which users can plug into any recent Garmin device.
The device shows location names in Pinyin, a Latin-alphabet phonetic spelling of Mandarin.. Meanwhile, the report said that the maps extend beyond Bejing to more than 980 Chinese cities. "This new suite of digital maps helps tourists locate stadiums, hotels, restaurants, and more-so they can spend their time being spectators instead of worrying about how to get there," said Garmin VP Dan Bartel. "Presently, Garmin is the only satellite navigation manufacturer that is able to offer these highly-detailed maps." Read the Gearlog report for more information.
