As if the speed demon known as the Casio EX-F1 didn't already allow users the opportunity to capture just the right moment, Casio's newest firmware update will make it even easier. Firmware 1.10 adds the new "Prerecord Movie" function, which permits video capture 5 seconds before the photographer actually presses the button. This means you can anticipate/record anything from the birds flying away to your friends at the skate park pulling off jaw-dropping moves.

The update will work with the camera's 300 fps, 600 fps, 1200 fps, and 30-300 fps high-speed movie modes, and the 1920-by-1,080-pixel full-HD movie mode and the 1280-by-720-pixel HD movie mode. And for those of you who love to record video with this camera for YouTube, the update will also work with the 30 fps Standard movie mode (perfect for online video.)

Firmware 1.10 will be available on Casio's English Web site on July 8th and on other-language sites later on. Would've been nice to have this before the 4th: YouTube and Vimeo might have featured some beautiful high-speed fireworks/explosion videos.
