The killer app in the world of gadgetry, these days? How about anything that makes airt ravel a touch less nerve-wracking? It's the same thing that's driving countless bag companies to create the perfect check-point friendly notebook bag with the TSA's blessing.
In air travel, the baggage carousel is often the last straw, however. After the countless lines, the security check, the added fees, the cramped cabins, and that always slow deboarding process, squeezing your way to the front, only to watch countless familiar-looking pieces of luggage drop down the chute, is enough to push anyone over the edge.
One Israeli company is looking to make the process a little less hair-pullingly irritating, with the Easy-2-Pick electronic baggage tag. Users palm a small circular disc, which transmits signals to the tag. The disc beeps and vibrates as the user gets within 12-15 meters of his or her luggage.
According to Israel21c, the device is set to hit the market this Fall for $15-20.

Are you kidding me? What a maddening waste of technology. WHY ON EARTH would I want to add yet another device to my carry-on arsenal when I could simply wrap a colored luggage strap around my checked luggage? Low tech? Sure, but also half the price, easier, and more reliable.

@Rich: Because you and a couple thousand of your friends have the same idea, and the same colored strap, and the same suitcase.
Just saying. Just because it's a waste TO YOU doesn't mean it's a waste overall.

Clearly you have never worked in the land of lost luggage - personally i think they should develop a system where you have to scan your finger print before you can take your bag off the carousel. the amount of lost luggage created by people who don't simply check the name on the piece of luggage they are claiming is beyond me, and for those of you who invest in the 5 dollar rainbow strap as a means of identification, give your head a shake if you truly think you are the only person in the world to come up with that, they are made in mass quanities for a reason!
