Dell has provided a fix for the problem affecting some users of Nvidia graphics chips inside notebooks.
Nvidia refused to say exactly which products were affected. Dell knows, though, and if you own one of the following notebooks, the company recommends downloading and updating your BIOS, which will adjust the cooling to compensate for the affected chips. Dell will provide support according to your existing warranty.
Here's the catch, though: if you are experiencing issues such as: multiple images, random characters on the screen, lines on the screen, or no video, you're out of luck: the BIOS update won't fix anything. A list of affected notebooks follows. Click on the link to download the updated BIOS for that particular model.
