Not familiar with CherryPal? It's the latest company vying for a piece of the low-cost PC pie. Earlier today the company introduced the "cloud computer," a small, cheap, and extremely low-voltage desktop system.
The CherryPal PC measures 1.3 by 5.8 by 4.2 inches and is designed for users who need little more out of a system than extremely basic computing and Web surfing. It features a 4GB solid state drive, Firefox, 802.11g, and Debian Linux OS.
The PC features no movable parts, and users are required to store most of their files online, hence the "cloud computing" moniker. The company offers CherryPalCloud for online storage, which features access to OpenOffice and iTunes. It also offers online malware and antivirus protection.
The CherryPal PC is exceedingly green, thanks to its 2-watt power consumption and the fact that it requires 80 percent fewer components than the average desktop.
The CherryPal will run $249, available later this month. For more info, check out PC Mag.com.
