After previous misfires, we probably should have just assumed that this morning's promise of free Wi-Fi for iPhone users was just too good to be true. The company today denied their own self-published rumors, stating that the promise of free Wi-Fi had been posted in error. The company is working on taking the page down, as I write this.

Generally these sorts of "accidental announcements" are promising signs that the feature will soon be available, but after two false starts, who the heck knows?
