Some more details on the Lotus Evora—the actual name for the Lotus Eagle I posted about last week—courtesy of Road & Track: the car will indeed feature Toyota's aluminum-block 3.5-liter V-6. This marks another chapter in Lotus' continuing relationship with Toyota, whose 2ZZ inline-4 block powers the current Lotus Elise and Exige models, the report said.
In this larger application, though, the VVT-i variable cam timing-equipped V6 will produce 280 bhp. The car will also feature an aluminum chassis and a tubular steel rollover structure that anchors the seatbelts. The company says that it can lap the Nürburgring "considerably faster" than the Elise, and will tick off 60 mph in less than 5 seconds on the way to a top speed of 160 mph.
The interior will feature standard leather "with a contrasting band of color that sweeps from the instrument cluster around the cockpit," according to the report. You can also expect edge-lit, flush-mounted buttons, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and a touch-screen sat-nav-audio system from Alpine. Lotus plans to build 2,000 per year and begin delivering cars to customers in the spring of 2009.
