wdfDesktop_CaviarBlack.jpgWestern Digital launched a new line of Caviar Black 7,200-RPM 3.5-inch SATA (Serial ATA) hard drives for high-performance desktops. The drives will complement gaming PCs, media editing PCs, and Blu-ray playing/writing desktops very well. They'll be available in capacities of 750GB and 1TB.

Caviar Black drives are designed for low power consumption and use GreenPower technology. According to WD's Web site, The Caviar Black drives feature a dual processor and a 32MB cache.

WD Caviar Black 750 GB and 1 TB hard drives will be available next week. List price for the WD Caviar Black 750GB is $199 and the 1TB drive is $249. Both drives are covered by a five-year limited warranty.
