Warning! These haughty road warriors are not from your local motor pool! They come in all shapes and sizes, with different wheels, engines and sometimes even armor and guns, representing the utmost in driving pomposity.

Profiling these cars, trucks, and cycles in a segment titled Ten Best Apocalyptic Vehicles, Wired queried its readers about what they think would be the last ride standing. The result was an extreme lineup, spanning from the unicycle to the Stryker armored vehicle. Pictured above, for example is a Volkswagen Concept T, equipped with "a heads-up display to keep you focused on the zombie horde ahead, the ground clearance to handle those who don't get out of the way and a top speed of 140 to escape the inevitable attack."

This crude-looking trike, on the other hand, is known as Ural Patrol - a keepsake of my own Soviet childhood and a rare machine that can climb like a goat and be swiftly repaired with nothing more than "a hammer, a screwdriver and duct tape." To view all 10 apocalyptic machines go here.
