So the iPhone 3G is presumably coming out on Monday, and we'll be tracking the announcement. But Sprint users need not despair that AT&T is hogging all the touch-screen glory: the Samsung Instinct is coming your way, and we have an early review.
And before you think I just have iPhone on the brain, Sprint is inviting comparisons. They have five videos on their promotional Web site directly comparing the Instinct and iPhone. "Finally, an amazing touch-screen phone with the network to back it up," Sprint's promotional site says. That's a dig at the iPhone's slow EDGE Internet connection; the Instinct's EVDO Rev A modem is much faster.
Could the Instinct be the touch-screen marvel that keeps you from jumping ship for an iPhone? Check out our Instinct review on PCMag.com. We'll update it next week with further information. The Instinct goes on sale June 20.

Hmm. Looks kind of blocky though - kind of bricky. Even so, I'll bet the photo just doesn't do it justice.
One thing I'm entertained with is how quickly touch-screen keyboards have caught on in mobile devices. When the iPhone was new (and not by any stretch the first smartphone or PDA to sport a touch-keyboard) people crowed about how they'd never fly. Now you can't turn around without seeing a phone that's all screen and no keys!
